Airy Polish Chocolate Cream Cake – so tempting

This delicious Polish-style chocolate cream cake, also called wuzetka, is not only visually appealing but also tastes delicious, why not try it!

Ingredients (for 12 pieces) :

For the mass :

  • 6 eggs
  • 180 g of sugar
  • 90g butter
  • 1 and a half teaspoons of baking powder
  • 165 g of wheat flour
  • 50 g of cocoa
  • 1 tablespoon of rum

For the cream filling:

  • 700 ml whipped cream
  • 150 g icing sugar
  • 5 sheets of gelatin
  • 3 tablespoons of rum

For the frosting:

  • 200 g dark chocolate
  • 100 ml of whipped cream
  • 100g butter

Preparation :

1. In the first step, separate the eggs. Beat the egg whites together with the sugar until foamy.

2. Put the flour in a separate bowl and mix with the cocoa and baking powder until combined. Start to add the dry ingredients to the egg white mixture, followed by the rum. Once everything is well mixed, pour it into a greased and floured cake tin. Preheat the oven to 170 degrees and bake the cake on the middle shelf for about 35 to 40 minutes.

3. In the next step, prepare the cream. Whip it and add the icing sugar. Soak the gelatin in a little water, then strain it and mix it with the cream. Add the rum and put the cream in the fridge to cool.

4. Remove the cake from the oven, leave it in the tin for a while and then remove it from the tin. Cut the pastry crosswise to make two layers. One should be about 2/3 of the thickness, the other 1/3.

5. In a saucepan, heat 100 ml of cream and add the dark chocolate in small pieces. Stir until the chocolate has dissolved, add the butter and mix.

6. Reserve some of the filling cream for later use. Spread the cream over the thinnest part of the pastry and cover with the thickest layer. Cover the cake with frosting and use some of the reserved cream to make little dots on top. That’s it.

Advice :

Do you want to add an extra decoration to your wuzetka, a fluffy Polish chocolate cream cake? Candied cherries are a common addition to this sweet, and chopped pistachios are also often sprinkled on top of the cake to round it out.
