Did you know you can make a really wonderful oil at home with bay leaves? Simply place bay leaves, fresh or dried, in extra virgin olive oil for cooking. The process is simple and with a few bunches of leaves you can get several bottles of DIY oil.
Bay leaf is an aroma that is not only incredibly useful and delicious in the kitchen, but also has thousands of beneficial properties for the body and hair. To take advantage of all its properties in the cosmetic field, the most effective, natural and economical solution is, without a doubt, to make bay leaf oil at home based exclusively on fresh leaves and berries.
Ingredients:
- 900 g extra virgin olive oil
- 50 fresh bay leaves (or more)
Preparation:
- To prepare the oil, it is undoubtedly better to opt for fresh and not dried leaves, as well as freshly picked berries. First, take the bay branches and start removing the leaves. Put them in a glass at high temperature. Now we press the leaves with a ladle and continue filling the glass to the edge.
- At this point, we begin to add the extra virgin olive oil. We add as much as we can until the leaves are completely covered. We press again with the ladle.
- Now we take a pot and put it on the fire. We put a cloth in it (this way we will protect the glass from boiling) and fill it with water. Now we immerse the glass with oil and leaves and boil it for at least 3 hours. If we want to keep the glass jar still, we can also use a second glass jar filled with water as a stopper.
- Remember to lower the leaves with the ladle from time to time so that the oil can penetrate between them. Don’t worry
