The presence of insects in a house causes a lot of discomfort. Between fly desertions, mosquito bites, and cockroach-borne bacteria, life quickly becomes unbearable. It is necessary, in this case, to react quickly to avoid an invasion of these unpleasant creatures.
Fortunately, there are several effective methods that pose no danger to your health or the environment. So you can easily make your own insecticides with products you use every day at home.
1 – Homemade Insect Traps
Unlike commercial insect traps, these are environmentally friendly, cost next to nothing, and are terribly effective.
Apple Cider Vinegar Trap
Need:
– Cider vinegar or balsamic vinegar.
– Liquid dishwasher detergent.
“A glass bowl.”
– A plastic film.
“A toothpick.”
Pour 2 to 3cm of cider vinegar or balsamic vinegar into the bowl. Then add a few drops of liquid dish detergent and shake to dissolve. By placing the container in the infested area at night, you will find many dead insects the next day. They seem to be more attracted to the darkness and coolness of the night.
Flies and other insects are attracted to vinegar because of the smell that resembles that of rotting fruit. When they approach it to feed, they will choke thanks to the detergent.
Fruit Trap:
Place an old piece of skinless fruit in the container. Cover tightly with plastic wrap. Poke lots of small holes in the plastic with a toothpick. Fruit flies will enter the trap without being able to get out.
2 – 100% natural aerosol
It’s a simple, chemical-free, and inexpensive solution to get rid of those unwanted visitors once and for all.
Ingredients:
– 1/2 glass of vinegar.
– 1/2 glass of olive oil.
– 1/2 cup of shampoo.
How to use :
Pour the 3 ingredients into a spray bottle and shake this mixture. All you have to do is spray the liquid in the different corners of the house.
3 – A lavender essential oil-based repellent
Put a few drops of lavender essential oil on a sponge, then place it in a place frequented by flies and leave it on. Repeat as soon as the smell is gone.
4- A natural repellent with lemon and cloves
This grandma’s trick involves cutting a lemon (preferably green) in half and then gluing about fifteen cloves on each side.
The blend of the 2 perfumes is a natural repellent against mosquitoes and flies. After a few days, the flesh of the lemon will color and take on a brown tint. This operation should be repeated every week.
