Types of plant pests

When pests  infest a plant, they feed on its sap and slowly carry it away. The  main pests of plants  include  mites. Various types of insects, mites and fungi can seriously damage the health of plants.

Recognizing plant pests  is very important to intervene in time. There are signs that can reveal the presence of parasites, which devour leaves and flowers.  Spider mites  are small mites with eight legs that infest vegetables and fruits. They cause drying of the leaves and death of the plants. To eliminate spider mites, remove the leaves and use garlic as  an insecticide  to spray on the plant.

The  whitefly is a pest that affects lemons, geraniums and orchids. It is an insect that produces honeydew, a white substance with which it fills the leaves to make them yellow and fall. The remedy against this pest is the infusion of garlic or apple cider vinegar. Mealybug spreads  with  heat and humidity, attacking plants and producing  honeydew  that attracts fungi and other pests. To defeat these parasites, simply clean the attacked areas with cotton wool soaked in ethyl alcohol.

Caterpillars  , which devour tender plant leaves, can be eliminated by washing the plant with a mixture of black pepper and water.  Aphids, or lice, love roses,  sticking to the stem and  sucking their vital blood . To eliminate them, simply place them in the garden of ladybugs, which are predators of such parasites, or use a natural spray based on horsetail, neem oil or Marseille soap.

Natural mixture against plant pests

In the spring period, plants kept on the balcony or in the garden can be attacked by pests. To create a  valid DIY antiparasitic  , just take about  200 grams of nettle leaves, a few grams of Marseille soap flakes and approximately a liter of water.

Nettle and soap have the ability  to keep insects and parasites away , eliminating any eggs. To make the  anti-pest mixture,  simply let  the nettle leaves macerate for a few days in warm water . After straining the nettle juice, add the caglie soap and mix  everything.

Once you have made the mixture, you may choose to spray the canopy of pest-infested plants. The  repellent product  should be used approximately every three days, until the parasites disappear. Such a mixture against vegetation pests turns out to be effective against many types  of pests .

Natural antiparasitic agents

To  rid plants of dreaded pests, it is better to resort to natural remedies than pesticides, which are harmful to the plant and humans. Essential oils, spread on the leaves or vaporized on the plants, are a  valid remedy against pests.  In particular,  neem, lavender and malaleuca oil  are excellent  natural oils with repellent action.

To combat them in a natural and ecological way , you can use  garlic maceration,  very useful for its antibacterial power. Nettle macerate ,  due to its stinging power, is an excellent natural remedy against aphids and mealybugs.

Against fungal diseases,  baking soda  is very useful to dissolve in water and vaporize it on plants. Another widely used natural insecticide is  pyrethrum powder,  which helps combat fruit flies and mosquitoes.
