Avocado is  one of the most nutritious fruits  recommended by nutritionists. Its abundance of  healthy fats  makes avocado a perfect fruit for many recipes as a starter or dessert. Its soft and tender meat can be the ingredient in a multitude of salty or sweet sauces.

Did you know that you can  grow avocado at home from a stone  ? You just have to follow a few steps to have one at home!

Grow an avocado tree: these are the steps to follow

What you need :

1 avocado pit

4 chopsticks

1 jar

To begin, soak the core in hot water at a temperature of 35 to 40° for about 30 minutes.

Next, clean the core well and insert the toothpicks at equal distances.

Next, take a glass full of water and place the bone in it, keeping the domed part in the air and the rest soaked in water.

Replace the water in the glass when you notice it is cloudy.

Install the glass in a warm place away from sunlight < until you get a stem and small roots. This takes between 2 and 6 weeks.

Next, wait for more leaves to appear and roots to grow to 1 to 2 centimeters before growing the pit in a pot.

Grab a large pot with nutrient-rich soil. Place the stone in the center, making a hole. Make sure the end of the core is on the outside.

How do you care for your seedlings?

When your young avocado tree is well planted,  place the pot in a location where it can receive sunlight .

Water the plant regularly to keep the soil moist without stagnating water.

If you notice that the leaves are dry and dark in color, your plant is lacking moisture. Place the pot in the sink and let the water run so it drains well.

Conversely, the  leaves may turn yellow and wither . This means overwatering. In this case, avoid watering your plant for a few days to reduce its hydration level.

If you manage to take care of your avocado tree, you will be able to harvest your avocados very soon! By the way, avocado has many benefits for the body. It is a fruit rich in antioxidants, fiber, unsaturated fats, copper, vitamins B5 and B6, vitamin K, phosphorus and zinc.
