How much garlic have you bought in the last year? Being widely used in the kitchen, it is never missing in our homes, however few know that it is possible to grow garlic at home . Below we suggest two ways to grow it, both very simple and within everyone’s reach.
The classic process is very simple: just put the sprouted garlic, or a head of garlic, directly into a vase or glass container. Add a little water to just cover the roots of the garlic, and leave it in a sunny corner of the house. After a few weeks a stem will begin to develop which, once it reaches 8 cm in length, can be cut and used as a condiment.
But it is also possible to grow garlic in soil. Choose a fairly deep and wide pot, fertile soil and be sure to prepare good drainage with gravel. Make holes in the soil and stick a clove of garlic with the root facing down.
The garlic cloves should be placed about 2.5 cm deep, about 12 cm apart.
Water it twice a week and, if you live in a cold place, cover it with straw to protect it. The soil should be moist, but without standing water. After a few weeks, it will be possible to harvest the grown garlic.
