Plants are a wonderful way to decorate the interior of your home. Beyond their aesthetics, plants are also beneficial for health, as they absorb CO2 to produce oxygen. They help to refresh the air in the house, and eliminate a good part of the negative substances. This renewed air, free of toxins, will make you feel better in your home and keep you in better shape. So let’s see which are the best plants to have inside the house, that do not require a lot of light.

Spathiphyllum

Spathiphyllum is a plant with which the nicknames moonflower and peace lily are traditionally associated. It is characterized by beautiful white leaves, and can reach 1 meter in height. It is a  plant  originally from South America, which grows well in poorly lit spaces.

The indoor azalea

The Japanese are known for their extensive use of plants within their homes. The indoor Azalea is one of the most famous in the country. Although it does not require a lot of light, it is not very resistant to cold. Be sure to always keep the root ball moist.

Dieffenbachia

Here is another  plant  from South America that makes do with little light to live in, and therefore adapts perfectly to the interior of the house.

sansevieria

This plant, nicknamed the snake plant, has a particular shape that attracts some and less to others. Although it is true that it grows faster in the presence of a lot of light, it can adapt perfectly to less radiant environments.

However, this plant with bright red leaves only needs a little sunlight to thrive. Aesthetics and needs that adapt perfectly to the interior decoration of the home.

clivia

Magnificent plant with orange flowers and a pleasant aroma. It can grow without too much light, but it’s still a good idea to take it out from time to time to encourage optimal growth.

Aspidistra

Here you have a robust plant, which can grow in the darkest places in your house. However, it requires a fairly cool temperature.

Aglaonema

The Aglaonema, like the Clivia, can live in places with little light, but occasional outings in the sun would be very good for it. It is advisable to opt for aglaonema commutatum, which adapts better to the lack of light than the other species.

bromeliad

This plant is undoubtedly one of the most suitable for interior decoration. First, its aesthetic full of colors seduces; then, its light needs are perfectly adequate (the plant even tends not to tolerate places that are too exposed to light).

Dracaena

We finish this (non-exhaustive) list with the dracaena, a much taller and more spacious plant than all those mentioned so far, but which nevertheless requires little light. Remember to prune it regularly so that it does not take up too much space and grows properly.
