An ultra-efficient trick to clean gas stove burners

Splashes of liquids on surfaces, splashes of sauce or grease, overflowing dishes… The kitchen is not immune to dirt when we go to the stove. This is particularly true for gas burners, which can accumulate food residue that eventually sticks together due to heat. Fortunately, there are very effective ingredients to beat this dirt.

For optimal maintenance of your kitchen, it is essential to opt for regular cleaning. Hobs, grills, oven… Every corner can accumulate grease residue. Gas burners in particular can become clogged and malfunction. To avoid the build-up of these residues that end up overlapping over time, opt for a homemade method with the ingredients on hand.

If your burners take a long time to ignite or the flames are very weak and irregular, it may be because dirt is clogging the gas ports. This usually happens when food residue drips down the sides of pots and pans, eventually clogging the burner lid ports. Over time, this residue hardens and becomes more difficult to remove. But there is an effective trick to overcome it.

Here are the ingredients you’ll need:

  • g Marseille soap
  • 2 liters of water
  • A used toothbrush with soft bristles.
  • A large basin
  1. Start by grating your soap for flakes.
  2. Boil the water in a saucepan and add the Marseille soap to dissolve it. This ingredient can also be used to clean and shine dirty kitchen floors.
  3. Once the mixture is homogeneous, pour everything into a bowl and add the white vinegar.
  4. Dip your burners into the bowl and let them soak for 30 minutes.
  5. When that time is up, take your used toothbrush and scrub the stubborn stains. Let the burners soak for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Rinse with clean water, then dry the burners with a clean cloth before placing them back on the gas cooker.

You can repeat this procedure once a week to keep your gas burners clean. If the latter are very dirty, add baking soda to your basin with soapy water, let it sit for a few minutes and pour in the white vinegar. These ingredients can also help clean the bottom of burnt pans.

If cleaning your gas burners is a must, the same goes for the grates that need to be maintained regularly. For surface residues, one step through the dishwasher is enough to remove the residues. If the latter are embedded and have accumulated for several days, it is advisable to opt for a more radical solution.

To remove all the debris stuck to the walls, you’ll need:

  • 2 cups white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons baking soda
  • Half a cup coarse salt
  1. Mix the white vinegar, baking soda, and coarse salt in a bowl large enough to submerge the grills.
  2. Let them soak overnight to dissolve dirt.
  3. The next morning, rinse the grates with clean water to find shiny surfaces.
  4. If residue is still stuck to the grates, scrub them with an abrasive sponge and some liquid detergent. Cleanliness guaranteed!
