With the arrival of the heat, there is nothing better than a good barbecue in the garden. But there’s always the hassle of having to clean the grill at the end of the day. How to do it with little effort?
Let’s find out. Regardless of the type of barbecue, the grill can be cold or hot cleaned.
Hot cleaning of the barbecue grill
Before the grill cools down, we can rub it with an onion or half a lemon, being careful not to burn ourselves carelessly! The onion or lemon should be skewered with a fork to rub the grill, removing the incrustations. Alternatively we can also use a special metal brush to remove excess oil.
Cold cleaning of the grill.
If the grill is already cold, remove any ash or charcoal used for the fire and quickly remove grease deposits with special metal brushes. Alternatively, crumpled aluminum foil can be used to scrub the grill and remove excess grease.
Natural products to clean the barbecue grill
Let’s move on to the actual cleaning of the barbecue grill. Of course there are special products, but it is always better to opt for natural ones, as they are absolutely safe to use.
Vinegar and baking soda
You expected it, right? Vinegar and baking soda are often used to clean the house and dishes. So why not use them to clean the barbecue? Simply add a quart of warm water and two tablespoons of vinegar to a bottle. Mix well and transfer to a spray bottle.
We spray the DIY cleaner on the grill and leave it on for at least 15 minutes, then rub it with a steel wool. Finally, prepare a mixture of water and baking soda, and wipe it over each strip of the grill with a sponge. This will come back as shiny as it was just bought! And the smell of meat or fish will be completely eliminated.
Marseille soap for cleaning the grill
Marseille soap is a popular product as it can be used on any type of surface. It is a mild soap but with fantastic cleaning properties.
To degrease the grill, simply fill a bowl with water and a glass of soap, let the grill soak for 20 minutes. Once the time has elapsed, use a sponge still soaked in Marseille soap and rub the dark areas with special attention, i.e. those where more grease has been deposited. Finally, rinse with warm water and dry with a cotton cloth.
Coffee to clean the barbecue grill
In particular, coffee grounds are the parts to rub on the grill to remove excess fat. We can also prepare a basin where we can add a cup of coffee with hot water to immerse the barbecue utensils to be degreased. After an hour we rub and, of course, everything should be rinsed.
