Scented clothes in a few steps
Who doesn’t like to always wear clean clothes but above all perfumed ? However, sometimes it seems that our washing machine does not perfectly perform the functions for which it was created.
You have also hung clothes with a not exactly pleasant smell despite the correctly set washing schedule.
How can such a situation occur? You may not know it, but many times it’s also the detergent you use that isn’t good. It is true that you spend a lot of money every day to make sure you have the best products and many times they are the ones that cause problems and not only for your clothes but also for the washing machine.
Did you know that some ingredients can spoil the metal components of our appliance ? If we do not take care of our washing machine carefully, it is likely that in a short time it will end up breaking down.
However, smelly clothes often also depend on dirt that accumulates on a part of the appliance that is almost never cleaned, i.e. the gasket.
Try to look closely at the internal rubber of the washing machine: if you do not wash it periodically, you will surely find it dirty and smelly. Here is the remedy that will save your appliance and especially your clothes.
How to clean dirty and smelly washing machine joints
If your washing machine gives off a strong smell of dirt and mildew after each wash, its internal gasket is most likely dirty or even moldy.
If you do not periodically clean the rubber of your appliance you will have a laundry that will never smell fresh and clean. Although our clothes and the components of the washing machine themselves are in direct contact with detergents and various products, every time we set up a washing program, cleanliness is not necessarily guaranteed.
For example, a lot of dirt and mold accumulates on the drum rubber. The rubber of this appliance has been created in order to prevent water from escaping during washing.
Good maintenance is necessary not only to prevent clothes from smelling, but also to ensure that the washing machine stays running for as long as possible. The best cure is always prevention. Start acquiring these two habits that will surely come in handy:
- After each wash, dry the washer seal with a microfiber cloth;
- Leave the door open for at least 30 minutes to allow the internal metal components to dry from the water: this way you will prevent mold and dirt from forming inside the seal.
Remember that at least once a month you should carefully clean the rubber of your appliance. In this sense, we want to show you a remedy that will surely come in handy.
It’s a natural recipe that you won’t be able to do without. To make your own cleanser you need to get 250ml of water, a tablespoon of baking soda and 50ml of white vinegar.

The procedure is very easy. We advise you to do it with the washing machine turned off, checking that nothing has accumulated on the seal of your appliance such as socks, tissues or hairpins.
Spray the natural cleanser you made all over the gum and even internally. Dampen a microfiber cloth and thoroughly clean the eraser from top to bottom.
Then remove all excess water and leave the washing machine door open until the solution you cleaned the rubber with is perfectly dry. If you notice black dots inside the joint, it’s likely that mold has built up there. Again, you can still make an amazing recipe to solve the problem.
In a fairly large graduated glass, pour 2 liters of water, 60 ml of lemon juice and 250 ml of hydrogen peroxide. Spray this compound inside the seal and leave the product on for at least 30 minutes – you will see that the mold will disappear.
Then dry everything with a clean cloth. Take the opportunity to also clean the detergent drawer and the drum. Then schedule a long wash at 90 degrees without introducing any product into the tub.
Then dry the rubber once more and leave the washing machine door open. If you follow these tips you will see that you will always have a clean and perfect seal and above all you will guarantee a long life to your trusted appliance.
