How to give your hydrangeas a spectacular blue!

Hydrangeas are plants with beautiful blue, pink or white flowers and thanks to their majesty they create beautiful corners in gardens. But often the blues bloom again with a different color, usually tending to pink, and the question spontaneously arises: “How do you make them blue again?” . However, you can also apply the solution we propose to a simple bouquet of hydrangeas in a vase.

First of all, you should know that the color and dye more or less intense depends entirely on the pH of the soil. In particular, if the soil around them is very alkaline, its color will be intense and vice versa, approaching 7, while it is necessary to approach 4.5 if you want to see it blue.

The secret to providing them with the right habitat for blue bugs is in your kitchen! All you need to do is add a few coffee grounds a week to the pot or soil to quickly see the desired change. Coffee acidifies the soil in the right place and you will be satisfied with the result obtained.

But it’s not the only method you can use. It is also possible to replace coffee grounds with eggshells. Simply crumble it into many small pieces and add it to the soil both outside and in the vase of your balcony or patio.

The third method available to you is to use iron! Iron cloves, in particular, release an acidic ingredient after oxidation that changes the color of hydrangeas and darkens them. However, the simplest and therefore recommended method is still the one described first, that of using coffee grounds.
