In Ayurveda, reference is often made to a small fruit called amla (scientific name Phyllanthus Emblica Linn). This fruit has been used for more than 5000 years in India, with the aim of rejuvenating the body and strengthening the immune system.
Yellow and green in color, amla is very common in Asia but little known in Italy. It has antioxidants such as polyphenols and vitamin C, which protect against chronic diseases such as cancer, heart disease and diabetes, according to a study conducted by the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology at Annamalai University (India).
100 grams of amla can provide our body with about 450 milligrams of vitamin C. Here are all the benefits of this fruit:
- It cures stomach pain. Many abdominal problems can be solved with amla: diarrhea, vomiting, colic, infections and other digestive problems.
- Prevents diabetes. Amla improves liver function, helps treat pancreatitis, swelling, and pancreatic pain. Its regular consumption reduces the sugar level in people with type 2 diabetes.
- Detoxifies the liver. Amla has been scientifically proven to be great in cleansing the liver as it helps expel toxins.
- Treat cancer. The antioxidants in amla may play an important role in cancer treatment.
- Regenerates the skin. This incredible fruit is used against rashes, pimples, and other skin problems.
