Orange peels, which we often discard, are actually a hidden treasure that can be used to prepare exquisite recipes, such as jams and preserves. These recipes use basic ingredients and have a spectacular result.

Recipe 1: Orange Marmalade
Ingredients:
- 2 kg of oranges (for the peel)
- 700 gr of sugar
- 1 tbsp baking soda
- 2 tbsp vinegar
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1 tbsp of butter
- Cinnamon (to taste)
- 225 ml of oil (can be sunflower or olive)
Preparation:
- Wash the oranges well, remove the peel, and remove the white part to avoid bitterness.
- In a large pot, place the peels and add water to cover them. Boil for about 15 minutes.
- After the first boil, strain and rinse the peels with cold water. Repeat this process at least 2 times.
- Add the baking soda, vinegar, and lemon juice to the peels.
- Add the sugar, cinnamon and shortening. Cook over medium heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the oil little by little and let cook for a few more minutes, until the mixture thickens.
- Pour the hot jam into sterilized jars and close tightly.
Recipe 2: Orange Juice Marmalade
Ingredients:
- 8 Oranges (for the juice and peel)
- 3.5 cups sugar
- 1.5 Cups of water
- 1.5 cups orange juice
- Half a lemon (for the juice)
- 1 tsp of butter
- Cloves (to taste)
- Cinnamon (to taste)
Preparation:
- Peel the oranges, making sure to save the peels and squeeze the juice out of the oranges.
- In a large pot, mix the water, orange juice, and sugar. Bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar.
- Add the orange peels, cloves, cinnamon and butter.
- Cook over medium heat for 20-25 minutes, until the mixture begins to thicken.
- Squeeze the juice of half a lemon and add it to the mixture, stirring well.
- Pour the jam into sterilized jars while it is hot and close tightly.
Both recipes are delicious and perfect to enjoy with toast, cookies, as an accompaniment to desserts or however you like.
