How to prepare canned grapes

To make this grape preserve, you will need:

Ingredients:

  • 2 kilos of grapes (you can use one or several varieties)
  • 4 tablespoons sugar (80 grams)
  • Room temperature water

Preparation:

  1. Selection of grapes:
    • You can use a single grape variety or combine several for a more diverse touch. Wash the grapes and remove them from the bunch. This recipe is also applicable to other fruits such as apples, pears, peaches, cherries, apricots, or plums.
    • Make sure the jars you’ll be using are clean and dry. You can use 600 ml bottles.
  2. Bottle Filling:
    • Place the grapes in the jars. You can layer with different varieties for an attractive visual touch. Shake the jars lightly to create space between the grapes.
    • Add 1 tablespoon of sugar (20 grams) per jar. You can adjust the amount of sugar according to your preference, or even omit it if you prefer sugar-free.
  3. Closing Bottles:
    • Make sure to close the jars tightly. The lids must be very tightly closed to ensure airtightness.
    • Place the jars in a pot with the lids facing down. Fill the pot with room-temperature water until it reaches halfway up the jars. Bring the water to a boil and let it boil over medium heat for 15 minutes.
    • After boiling, turn off the heat and leave the jars in hot water for 2 hours. This will ensure that the lids finish closing properly. After that time, remove the jars and dry them with a cloth.
    • Perform a lid test to make sure they’re sealed tightly. If the lids are flat and there is no swelling, you can store the jars in a cool place out of the sun.

And that’s it! Now you have deliciously preserved grapes that you can enjoy for a long time. This technique is also applicable to other fruits, so feel free to experiment and enjoy your favorite fruits at any time of the year.
