Do you know what rose cuttings are? It is basically a rose branch, which is taken and placed on the ground to replicate a rose. A unique reproduction system of its kind, which takes advantage of the nutritional properties of the rose.

Rose cuttings: this is how it’s done

The first thing is to choose the branch from which to obtain the cutting pieces. Obviously you have to choose a branch healthy and vigorous, at least 5 millimeters in diameter, free of defects and also quite young. From the chosen branch, a small piece of about 15/20 centimeters will be extracted, in which there should be some knots. Then it is done like this:

• A perpendicular cut is made after the leaf knot.
• Then count upwards at least  4 or 5 knots to make the final cut
• Then all the leaves are removed from the first 2/3 nodes, leaving at least 1mm of stem.
• The clean part of the branch should be buried.

At the end of the branch we could leave the leaves but they must be few or small.

Now the cutting is ready to be planted! You will need a 10-15 cm pot with holes in the bottom, it needs arid soil that is not too rich in nutrients for it to grow strong. For every 2/3 liters of soil it is necessary to add a tablespoon of mycorrhiza powder and organic fertilizer granules. The twig will be buried  for half its length  making sure that the leafless nodes remain underground.

A small but incredible trick, so that the cuttings grow beautifully, consists of submerging the lower part of the branch in a solution based on neem oil< a i=2> and water so that the rose grows better. Be careful with other products on the market, they are harmful to the health of the plant!
