Materials Needed

  • 1 LED spotlight (preferably damaged or recycled)
  • Aluminum foil (for kitchen)
  • Coaxial cable (recycled if possible)
  • Coaxial cable connector
  • 3/4-inch PVC pipe (optional)
  • Tools: drill, blade, hot silicone, ruler, marking pencil

Step by step to build the home antenna

1. Prepare the LED spotlight

  • Disassemble the burned-out bulb by removing the top cover.
  • Eliminates internal circuitry leaving only the aluminum housing.

2. Drill the base of the spotlight

  • Drill a hole in the center to insert the coaxial cable.
  • Make sure the hole allows for a tight passage of the cable.

3. Modify the coaxial cable

  • Measure and mark 21 cm from one end of the cable.
  • Carefully cut the black wrapper without damaging the mesh.
  • Separate the wire mesh from the inner conductor.
  • Repeat the process at 20 cm, leaving the conductor free to join it with the mesh.

4. Insert the cable into the spotlight

  • Thread the wire through the spotlight from the center hole.
  • Use aluminum foil to ensure contact between the mesh and the metal body of the bulb.

5. Seal and fix

  • Replace the bulb cap with hot silicone.
  • Make sure there is no contact between the mesh and the internal conductor in the connector.

6. External mounting (optional)

  • Use a TPVC to hold the spotlight.
  • It is recommended to place the antenna outside the home, free of obstacles for better reception.

Useful tips

  • Place the antenna in a high place and without interference.
  • Orient the antenna towards the nearest repeater.
  • Adjust the antenna direction to find the best signal.
  • Try different cable lengths if you have signal problems.
  • Verify the quality of connectors; Avoid defective products.
