Many have been bitten by this passion, without even necessarily becoming experts in the field. However, this requires certain important qualities: patience, finesse and commitment. There is certainly nothing more satisfying and rewarding than seeing your plants healthy and growing in the best conditions. On the other hand, the sight of a wilted plant dying is heartbreaking. However, there is no secret, to see your plants grow over time, staying healthy and resilient, you must learn to take good care of them and offer them all the care they need. And to give them a boost, know that there are several natural methods to boost their growth.

Nowadays, home gardening has become very fashionable. Whether it is a hobby, a true passion or a form of therapy, many people have a lot of fun improving their interior or exterior decor and bringing beautiful perennials to life. But, one thing is certain, you need to acquire some knowledge: knowing specifically what types of plants can grow in your environment, the light you have, the fertilizers to use or even how to fight against parasites that attack plants. But sometimes, even taking precautions and following instructions, maintenance can be quite complex. However, in this article we will try to give you some tips on how to take good care of it.

Homemade trick to take care of your plants

With just a few ingredients, inexpensive and accessible everywhere, you will have a beautiful space full of magnificent plants.

10 g of brewer’s yeast

1 tablespoon white sugar

1 liter of mineral water

Preparation :

Mix the yeast with water until it dissolves well (you can heat the water if you want!).

Add the sugar to the mixture.

Let this mixture sit for two hours.

Application :

Place the preparation in a vaporizer.

During fall or winter, spray your plants with this solution once a month.

During spring or summer, fertilize your plants with this preparation at least three times a month.

NB : Brewer’s yeast contains very powerful nutrients for plant roots. It acts as a probiotic that stimulates plant growth. As for sugar, it helps them to live again and keeps away all kinds of parasites such as insects and pathogenic fungi. Finally, chlorine-free water makes them look healthy and beautiful.

More tips for growing healthy plants

Beyond this advice, you should take into account certain parameters that can guide you in relation to the maintenance and longevity of your plants.

Whether for inside the house or for your balcony, it is important to identify the type of each plant. Keep in mind that each of them has its own specific characteristics and needs. Some will need a lot of light, others less, direct or indirect exposure to the sun. There are those that require a lot of water and those that cannot stand humidity. Some prefer top watering, while others need to be watered from their base.

If you notice any abnormalities or notice that your plant is not growing properly, there may be some gaps in its maintenance: keep in mind that plants sometimes have unexpected or unusual needs. Maybe it needs to be fertilized more or maybe it has grown too big and needs pruning. Also check if the light conditions have changed or if it has increased in size, in which case a repotting is necessary.

Use natural fertilizers

If you are not very fond of chemicals that pollute the environment, you can occasionally alternate with natural and ecological ingredients that make perfect fertilizers for your plants.

Here are some:

– Coffee grains

Rich in phosphorus, nitrogen, magnesium and potassium, coffee grounds are a particularly interesting fertilizer for plants, providing them with the nutrients they need. Also, when you make your coffee, don’t throw away the filter. Instead, use it to sprinkle over your potting mix or mix it into your soil. But don’t overdo it either!

– Eggshells

You never imagined that these shells were good for your plants? And yet, they are ideal for balancing the pH of compost. They also neutralise the acidity of certain fruits and vegetables thanks to their high calcium content. That’s not all: they provide carbon, magnesium and phosphorus to plants. Don’t throw them away! Break them up into small pieces and scatter them on the soil around the roots. Special mention: eggshells can hurt some parasites that won’t dare to go through it again!

– Banana peels

Did you used to throw away banana peels? What a pity, they are full of nutrients that promote the growth of your plants. In fact, they are rich in fiber, starch, vitamins (A, B and C) and nitrogenous proteins. Banana peels help a lot in flowering. Therefore, it is a powerful ecological and organic fertilizer that will do a lot of good for your plants.

– The grass after mowing

You should place the grass in a bucket and add water to moisten it completely. Let it sit for a whole day. Then pour the solution into a spray bottle and spray your plants. This way they will benefit from a good amount of nitrogen.

Please note : Plants should never be pruned when they are flowering. The best time to do so is when the flowers have faded or are about to fall. They should therefore be cut just below the node.

Remember that many plants do not tolerate excess water: they stop growing and quickly get sick, not to mention the stems and leaves that turn dark or yellow. Then you will probably have to change the soil or repot it.

Before watering, always check the plant to see if it is lacking water or not. How do you know? You should put your finger about an inch from the surface to see if the soil is dry or moist.

Gardening is an art.
