Our mothers and grandmothers also had their own methods. Some methods worked, others just made the clothes even more yellow. Fortunately, there are many ways to keep your clothes always white!

No need to use expensive detergents, we have the necessary products at your fingertips.

We invite you to discover two ideal methods to preserve this whiteness. Admittedly, they will depend on the type of fabric or the stains on the clothes, but both are still very effective.

Boric Acid

You will need 20 grams of boric acid (available in pharmacies) and 10 liters of water.

Dissolve boric acid in water. Put the clothes in this solution and leave them on for 2 or 3 hours.

Then wash the clothes in the usual way, preferably in the washing machine.

You will be pleasantly surprised by the result: your clothes will be as white as snow!

Potassium permanganate

You will need a bucket of hot water, half a teaspoon of potassium permanganate and 200 grams of detergent.

Dilute the permanganate in a glass of water. Pour the colored water into the bucket of hot water.

Add the clothes and leave them until the water is very cold.

Then rinse thoroughly.

There are still many other alternative methods:

You will need to follow the instructions to the letter for good results.

Bleach

This whitening is very effective, but it is not recommended for fine and delicate fabrics. Avoid also for people with allergies.

Simply rinse your clothes in hot water with added bleach, then wash as usual.

Hydrogen peroxide

Dissolve a teaspoon of peroxide in 2 liters of water. Soak the cloth and leave it for 15 minutes, then wash it in the washing machine. This is an effective method for yellowing clothes.

Ammonia

Dilute five tablespoons of ammonia in hot water. Soak the clothes and leave them in the water until they cool completely. Leave them for about an hour and a half. Then rinse thoroughly.

Baking soda

Dissolve 6 tablespoons of baking soda in six liters of water. Soak the clothes and leave them for about three hours. Then rinse them gently. This method is suitable for thin and delicate garments.

Citric acid

Dissolve two teaspoons of citric acid in boiling water. Water should cover all clothing. Let soak for two hours, then rinse thoroughly.

Aspirin

Dissolve 6 aspirin tablets in seven liters of water and put your clothes in this solution. It is best to let it soak overnight. Choose a gentle wash cycle and you can even add two or three cut aspirin tablets to your clothes.

laundry detergent

This method is excellent for wool fabrics. Strain the soap through a fine grater and add two tablespoons of soap to the hot water. Soak the clothes and leave them for a few hours. Then wash them in the washing machine.

You can still add 2 tablespoons of plain soap to clothes, it will improve the whitening effect.

Starch

Dissolve two tablespoons of starch in 5 liters of water and soak the clothes overnight.

The next morning, wash them in the washing machine.

Each person wants their clothes to keep their whiteness intact, and everyone is likely to have their own secrets.
