Orchid \u2013 the sponge method<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the most common plants in our homes is the orchid<\/strong> for its resistance and for its flowers of various colors that are used for many events and ceremonies and for the elegance of its flower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, not everyone knows that to have a vigorous flower<\/strong> there is a method called the sponge method that only the most expert nurserymen know and that we are going to show you step by step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even a plant that looks dead<\/strong> can come back to life and regain strength with an incredible result: you start cleaning the plant that is about to die by removing all the dry or rotten parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then you have to take it out of the ground and free it from all the bark<\/strong> that is there and then with sterile scissors<\/strong> remove all the other dry parts that cannot be removed by hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don’t worry about removing the parts<\/strong> that you don’t know if they are rotten or not, it is always better to remove the damaged parts than to keep them so that the healthy part is revitalized after the treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The central part,<\/strong> still viable, will appear with a small root and perfect leaves if they are not completely dry. It may happen that living parts are created through which fungi and bacteria can enter<\/strong> and they have to be closed with cinnamon that heals and helps form new roots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is necessary to drop the cinnamon<\/strong> on the cutting side and let it rest for 48 hours in a sterile and dry environment by placing the plant on a clean tissue on a serving plate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What’s wrong with the plant<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

After this time, cut the bottom of a plastic bottle<\/strong>, about 10 cm and hammer it into the bottom, creating 4 or 5 cuts<\/strong> that will allow the water to come out. Indoors, prepare a bed for the seedling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this, moss<\/strong> or lichen<\/strong> can be used or, if we do not have these organic materials, insert a sterilized sponge. <\/strong>Once you have this, moisten it and insert it into the bottom of the cut bottle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After inserting the seedling, place it, put it in a plastic bag<\/strong> and close it, so that a real microclimate is formed that will tend to help the plant recover and revive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Place it in a place where it can get plenty of light, being careful not to expose it to direct sunlight for about 50 days<\/strong>. After these two months or so we can see the results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plant will become viable with hard, green and shiny leaves and there will be no molds<\/strong> or bacteria<\/strong> and the root system will be perfect and the remaining roots will have grown a few centimeters forming more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then put the bark<\/strong> inside a plastic pot with a hole in the bottom and being careful not to break the roots, introduce the plant slowly, putting more bark until the pot is full.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then we wet everything with a steamer or sprayer, but being careful not to wet the leaves, at least for the first few days. <\/strong>In this way, the plant should be treated like any other orchid plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
