All these food scraps should never be thrown away, use them in this way as excellent natural fertilizers at no cost.

Onion peel

By throwing the skin of the onion directly on the ground and then passing it with a rake, we will get the properties to move little by little to the earth. The so-called mulch that not only helps to prevent moisture in the soil, but also the formation of weeds. Let the onion peel soak in hot water overnight. The next day we filter and then dilute with water taking into account the 1:1 ratio. Now we can pour it directly into the soil as natural fertilizer.

Finally, a mixture based on aloe vera gel, cinnamon infusion and onion can be used to create a rooting hormone base for our plants. Once we have obtained the cutting, we will simply have to soak it in the mixture and then bury it. This will encourage rooting and growth.

Banana peel

Being an ingredient rich in potassium and calcium, it will work very well as a fertilizer. All we have to do is take a glass jar and dip the banana peel in it. Let it rest for 24 hours in the jar and mix for a few seconds the next day. Now we can use this mixture to spray the soil of our succulent plants and see them go back to being as lush and green as before.

eggshells

Fill the eggshells with a good substrate and plant the seeds that we have selected for our cultivation inside. At this point we can store them in a sheltered place, or even inside the egg carton and use them as a completely natural and biodegradable seedbed. When, after watering, the first shoots have sprouted, then we can bury them in a pot filled with soil.

As an extended-release fertilizer

We crumble the eggshells into the ground and mix them well with a garden fork. These will degrade slowly as they release the calcium content into the soil and will be useful as ecological and biological fertilizers.

As fertilizer for roses.

Some types of plants, such as roses for example, have a special need for calcium. Once the eggshells have dried well, we can break them up with a rolling pin on a sheet of parchment paper. Now we mix them with a bar of coffee grounds (we also let them dry) and then spread our rositas on the floor.

Remedies against slugs

If they are shredded into large chunks of mentions, they can be inserted into the soil. These natural sharp blades will keep slugs away from seedlings in the garden. You can put them both in pots and directly in the garden.

Did you know that onion peels, banana scraps, eggshells and much more can become a valuable help for our plants?
