When they are in full bloom they give us a wonderful spectacle: a real explosion of colors that immediately puts us in a good mood. But having an <strong>abundant bloom of geraniums<\/strong> is not easy at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why don&#8217;t geraniums bloom?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before describing our <strong>tricks to make geraniums bloom<\/strong>, it is essential to understand what are the reasons why our geraniums do not bloom properly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Light<\/strong> _ Geraniums need at least 6 to 7 hours of light a day. Place your geranium plant in an area where it can receive sunlight, either indoors or outdoors. In winter, it protects the plant from the cold.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pruning. This is another method to achieve a good flowering. Our trick is to remove dried buds and rotting flowers weekly with very clean and sharp scissors or with your hands.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Natural fertilizer to make geraniums bloom<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Any <strong>geranium fertilizer<\/strong> should have two nutrients: potassium, which helps flowering, and phosphorus, which helps root development. There are many chemical fertilizers on the market, but we like organic and that is why we suggest that you use organic waste such as fruit peels (even nuts).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Coffee waste, eggshells and dried garlic are other excellent products to prepare a natural fertilizer for geraniums. They are particularly useful for preventing mealybug attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you&#8217;ve chosen the fertilizer ingredients, find a plastic container, poke holes for the organic matter to &#8220;breathe,&#8221; and moisten from time to time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Remember to aerate the potting soil before applying fertilizer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Make Geraniums Bloom<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We&#8217;ve come to our trick: to <strong>make geraniums bloom more abundantly and have more showy blooms<\/strong>, pour a few drops <strong>of olive oil<\/strong> near the roots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The acetic acid in <strong>vinegar<\/strong> is also great for plants. Mix one tablespoon of vinegar with three liters of water and use this solution to water the geraniums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Used tea bags<\/strong> are great for keeping the soil moist and releasing extra nutrients. Make a very small hole in the potting soil, put the tea bag and the water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cinnamon <strong>helps<\/strong> keep insects away.
