However, it is essential to take care of it properly to make it last a long time and ensure that it blooms abundantly.

The flowers of the spathiphyllum are cyclical, starting from green and turning brown just before falling. Often the normal coloring of the flowers is confused for a problem of the plant, and unnecessary measures are taken that can worsen the health of the plant.

Basic treatments of spathiphyllum

Spathiphyllum requires essential care to keep it looking good and bloom continuously. Below we list the most important ones.

The leaves must always be clean to avoid obstruction of the stomata and promote photosynthesis. Use a damp cloth to clean them.

Avoid using rinse aids for the leaves: most of the time they work by creating a patina that ends up clogging the stomata.

Avoid exposing the plant to direct sunlight and try to place it in a cool place.

The spathiphyllum should be placed in bright corners. An inadequate position of the plant can cause it not to flower.

Change the vasno once a year. Spathiphyllum has many fibrous roots that harden the clod of soil in which they are planted and prevent water penetration. In the presence of this problem, leaves and flowers will grow smaller than expected and dry out quickly.

Fertilize once a month with an eco-friendly fertilizer.

Water moderately two to three times a week. Immerse the plant in a bucket filled with water and wait for it to finish producing bubbles.

If the heaters are on, try spraying some water on the leaves. This will ensure sufficient humidity for it to bloom.

Plant the spathiphyllum in a mix of three equal parts peat, potting soil, and sand.

Share article

Important: This website does not give medical advice, nor does it suggest the use of techniques as a form of treatment for physical problems, for which medical advice is required.
