Its easy care and adaptability make it the one chosen by many.

In addition, not only does it require little care, it is an attractive tree that at first glance is very beautiful. It can be kept both indoors and outdoors, adapting quickly to its location.

This is one of the most resistant and easy succulents to have, with the right care we can have a flowering jade plant. We will tell you a little about the best forms of reproduction and the care we should take.

How to Plant and Care for the Jade Tree

For the jade tree to develop correctly, we must take into account the following aspects:

Growth

As we mentioned before, it is a plant that can be had both outdoors and indoors. For it to develop properly, it needs to be placed in a dry and well-lit place.

You also have to take into account the type of soil that these plants need, since they require a substrate that has good drainage, which is a soil prepared for cacti and succulents.

In case you didn’t know, succulents usually change color depending on where they are located. In the case of the jade tree, its leaves will change noticeably depending on the location.

If we have it indoors, its leaves will always look very bright dark green, however if we put it outdoors receiving direct sunlight, they will change to a lighter green color with reddish edges.

We also advise you that if you place it outside, be careful with high temperatures. Although they are resistant plants, their leaves can suffer from certain burns. We will also constantly check the humidity level of our plant, although it does not require significant watering, they need water.

Propagation

The jade tree is among the easiest succulents to reproduce, we can do it either by leaves or by cuttings.

Either way, we can have a strong and healthy tree. We will tell you the ways in which we can make a successful reproduction:

Jade Plant Reproduction by Leaf

Reproduction through the leaves is very simple, for this we must select a large and healthy leaf from the plant. Then, placing your fingers on the base of the leaf, we will gently pull it down.

In this way we will already have our leaf, which will be the mother of the future Jade Tree. Now we will place the leaf in a pot with soil prepared for cacti and succulents. Water with the help of a spray with water, approximately every 4 days.

We will place the pot with the leaf, in a place where it does not receive direct sunlight so that in this way, the sun does not damage its tender roots.

Little by little, the leaf will develop roots and once they root in the soil, the plant will begin to grow. It is an effective method but it takes a while for the plant to grow, which is why many choose to do it through cuttings.

Reproduction of Jade plant by cuttings

This is one of the fastest ways to reproduce any succulent. In this way, its roots will develop quickly and soon, we will have new leaves that will give proof of successful growth.

To do this, we will use a pot and put substrate for cacti and succulents. With our finger we will make a hole in the middle, reaching almost to the bottom.

Now it’s time to choose a stem that is healthy. Gently cut with the help of a clean and sharp scissors. We can also do it with our own hands but remember, be very careful not to hurt the plant.

We place the stem in the pot and fill with a little more soil, water lightly and put the plant in the morning sun which is milder. We will not realize that the stem has taken root when we touch it and feel it firm, we can even see new leaves many times.

Many use powdered hormones to speed up the rooting process, place it on the bottom of the stem, and then plant it. However, it is an unnecessary expense, since they respond well and effectively to transplantation.

Common Damage and Problems When Owning a Jade Tree

While these succulents are very easy to care for, problems that are common in our plants can arise, which are usually due to watering.

Remember that these plants are native to southern Africa, so they are adapted for that type of soil. They do not require much water, they have fleshy leaves that store the water they need to survive, so let’s not overdo it with watering.

These plants have roots that are susceptible to humidity, so they cannot withstand being wet for a long period of time, so they should be watered only when their substrate is very dry. In any case, we must pay attention to the condition of its leaves.

Soft leaves are indicative of a problem, for example if we haven’t watered them for a long time, this will be the reason why they are like this. While if we have watered them recently, they are a sign that we are watering it very often and that we should space out between waterings.

The Jade plant is also known as the tree of abundance or luck, it is one of the most sought-after succulents.
